Thank you everyone.

I’m just blown away by all of you!     Thank you for coming to my new blog site and for continuing to follow me.   It inspires me to do a better job keeping up with my posts.   I got the first one up for my new Drogon trophy.    I’m not exactly sure how to deal with all of the posts I had archived before my old blog disappeared.   I was able to export them, all 1500 pages of them, before the site stopped.   But what to do with 1500 pages!   I’ll have to purge and find a way for you to access the most informational of those.

Again, thank you all.   You are the best.

Dan

Dan–I’ve admired your artwork going back to your very first book back in…well, way back (IIRC, you were also profiled in the newspaper, which is how I heard about the book and your art) 🙂 Keep on keeping on!

You had trouble with a certain hosting company, too?

A Facebook special effects group was just discussing “cheap” tricks to make realistic effects and props. Paper maché came up and I mentioned that you built a realistic dragon.

    • Thanks for the plug with the other group. Yes, that’s one of the problems with all technology I think. Nothing is permanent. It’s hard to predict what companies will make it over time. Quick Blogcast didn’t. I’m hoping WordPress will survive.

I had mine through GoDaddy and they just announced it was ending. Didn’t know the reason was a separate company that was going down. I created my blog, but never used it.

      • GoDaddy and my company, WebsitePalace, are very similar. They offer similar products, like Website Tonight. It’s good that you hadn’t invested a great deal of time in that blog. I had 1500+ pages of posts and comments. But that’s life in the tech world. I’m sure that I’ll always be one step behind. Kind of like Microsoft chasing itunes with Zune, and now chasing Siri with Cortana. Who is going to trade one made up person for another?

I’m sorry you’ve had all this trouble with your blog. What a nuisance! I’m glad you’re still at it though, and I’m still following your posts of course. I think the new layout looks very nice.

    • Hi Stella. Well, this is the simplest look I could find. I’m still figuring out what to do with my old posts. But it will come together. Sometimes technology can be such a pain. Thank you for the encouragement.

Sorry you had to scrap your other site. I was directed to it by someone else’s blog about a cat enclosure they made. The pictures I did see on her blog were pretty coool. Hopefully not all of your stuff is lost in the interwebz!

    • Hello Dan. I will put that post back up. I just haven’t decided how to deal with all of my old posts yet. I’ll send you an email when it’s back. Sorry about that.

      • Dan Sterrett says:

Don’t be sorry! Just glad you have all of your content somewhere!

      • Hey again Dan. Well, I’m slowly getting my old posts up. If you are still interested my deluxe cat enclosure is up. It’s under the “Older Projects” button.

It’s good to see you have your blog up and running. I am still waiting for the new dragon book up date. (hint, hint) I started on making my 1/6 scale dragon parts. It’s going to be a hit or miss on this project. LOL
I wish you would make another 4 legged dragon. Thanks for all your help.

    • Hello May. Funny, I’m actually working on my revised book right now. The only reason it’s not done is that I’m trying to finish a four-legged dragon to have in the back as an example. I’m close to finishing that. Just need to paint it. And I’m adding a section on trophies. So I’m trying to finish two trophies as well. It just all takes a lot more time than I expect. I’m sure that happens to many artists. So, be patient. My goal is to have the book, and all the attendant projects, finished this month. Good luck on your project.

Hi Dan, it’s great to find you here on WordPress! It’s been around for quite a while and seems pretty stable, so hopefully we’ll both get to keep using it for a long time. I went looking for your videos again after getting a jolt of inspiration from the paper mache art group on facebook — I decided to try (at last) a screamer for the halloween challenge. I just spent an hour and a half immersed in your videos (when I should be making my blog post, oh well!) — I can’t tell you how much I love them! Thank you so much for your generosity with your techniques, and for doing it in such an entertaining way!

    • Hello Karen. It’s so nice to hear from you. Your blog looks great! Yes, I do love WordPress. Eventually I’ll move my website here as well. But I hate to mess with search engine stuff. I really appreciate your kind words about my videos. I’m glad you like them. They are a lot of work, but comments like yours make it all worth it.
      Good luck!
      Dan

Thanks, Dan! Yep, I hear you about the search engines. I think WordPress’s support staff has ways to help with that — I seem to remember something about that when I was setting mine up. Good luck, and I look forward to someday seeing the results of the transfer.

    Hello
I am fooled by your work.:D
I would like to know how you make eyes for your creations.

(Saddened for my English, I’m French and I have difficulty in English)
