Hi everyone. I thought I’d take a moment to post some exciting news. Well, it’s exciting to me anyway. I mentioned a while back that I was working on a “secret” project. I’ve been waiting to make a post about it until things became a little more clear. I made a dragon for the The Dragon Master Foundation that they will give away in a raffle coming soon. This is a great organization. Their goal is to make the “Big Data” of cancer research accessible and available to all who are working to eradicate the beast that is cancer. They are in partnership with many of the major children’s hospitals around the country. The money made on the raffle will help their cause. I am waiting to post photos and a video of this dragon until the official launch of the raffle. You will all be the first to know. It should happen in April. Meanwhile, check the group out. www.DragonMasterFoundation.org.
I’m also working on the time-lapse video of Drogon. I’ll have that soon. Make art!
What a great project! Can’t wait to see your contribution.
Thanks Marion. I think it turned out well. I will have more information soon.
Wow, that is very exciting news Dan! I can’t wait to see how many tickets they sell. With all your fan base, if they can help spread the word, it should be a very successful raffle. What a great cause! And as usual, can’t wait to see what you have created for it!
Hey Suz. Thank you for your nice note. One of the reasons I haven’t been posting as much is because I was working on that project. I had deadlines. And I was making them a video too. Of course I really want to share, but there have been a few snags in the final planning for the raffle, so I had to wait. I”m not good at waiting. Of course in the middle of all that my website was suspended because of too much traffic so I had to scramble and build a new site, and then I had that nightmare with my Facebook page getting hacked. For a while there it really felt like a cosmic conspiracy to keep me from doing my art. But it all worked out. I got the dragon and video done on time. And the raffle is moving forward. The foundation had a concert with the Gin Blossoms last Friday night and they announced the raffle and showed the video at that event. From what I hear it was very well received. I hope it makes them some money.
Talk to you later!
that is so cool! I hope I get the opportunity to do something just as outstanding with my art career. I can’t wait for your video on it! I hope you don’t mind me saying so, but my art class is doing a paper mache and i would be honored if you allowed me to make your (and my favorite) Naga paper mache dragon snake. Of course I can always use my second option if your not OK with it.
Hello Lynn. You know, you wouldn’t be the first to make that snake. It’s out there on video after all. It’s pretty flattering. Of course it’s always nice that if you make it pretty similarly that you would mention where you got the idea of someone asked. Have fun! Looks like the Dragon Foundation Raffle will be mid April through May (cancer awareness month). So you’ll see it soon.
Good luck
What a great project. The potential benefits of this organization are huge and it’s so cool that they got you to contribute. I look forward to seeing the dragon.
Hey Stella. It’s nice to hear from you! Yeh, I get requests all the time from various groups. This one is a very good organization. Great cause. And very nice people. I really want to share, but I can’t until the official launch. Hope you are making lots of art. I was going to start a new piece today, but got sidetracked. Gotta clean my studio a little. It’s a disaster. Can’t find anything. It’s a pit. I’ll feel better if I do. Talk to you later!
Hey, Dan. Is there any update on this or did I miss it?
Hi Sandra. An update on what? The new project? Or the dragon give away?
On the Dragon Master Foundation dragon and raffle…
Sorry. I guess I should have figured that out. You haven’t missed anything. The official “launch” to the raffle is supposed to happen next week. I will announce all the specifics in the next few days. Thanks for asking. Stay tuned.
Great news! Thanks, Dan. Can’t wait!
